Learning the skills of English and gaining an award in it, is such a major part of every pupil’s educational journey.

It will set each student up for the future; not only helping them to develop personally but also enabling them to communicate their thoughts and ideas clearly, in order to function as an individual in their own right, within society.  Here at New Barn, it is our absolute belief that every student has the capacity to achieve in the subject of English and we strive to give them every opportunity to do so. We believe everyone has the right to experience a wide range of texts, developing cultural capital and being able to view the world from different perspectives. We have created the English Curriculum to be focused on the skills needed and adapt it to the needs of our students. We want every student to develop compassion and resilience, whilst also providing opportunities for creativity and imagination.
